a Difference

Volunteers’ warm hearts and helping hands are the glue that holds MMOW programs together. Whether delivering meals, assisting at senior centers, working in our resale boutique, or helping with special events and fundraisers, it is our volunteers’ gift of sharing their time and hearts that makes it possible for MMOW to support our participants’ independence with dignity. Along the way, smiles, hugs, and lasting friendships brighten everyone’s path.

FAQ's

Yes, MMOW is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations to MMOW are deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS code. Tax receipts are provided for donors.

Home Delivered Meals

MMOW organizes volunteers to deliver hot lunches and personal visits to homes of frail, chronically ill, isolated, or disabled individuals regardless of age or financial circumstances. Meals are generally provided on an on-going basis; however, MMOW can provide short-term assistance during recovery or rehabilitation.

Senior Center Luncheons

Wholesome food, lively conversation, dominoes, cards, and bingo make MMOW’s luncheons a “not-to-be-missed” special occasion regardless of whether the participants are lifelong residents or new to the community. MMOW whole-heartedly welcomes any senior who needs a meal or fellowship. Reservations are not required at most centers.

Stockings for Seniors

MMOW’s “Stocking Tree” provides personal wrapped gifts for home meal recipients during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. MMOW engages the community to create special memories and ensure that no homebound senior is forgotten during the holidays.

Winter Meals

Since 2002, MMOW has partnered with Metroport Rotary Club which purchases and assembles shelf-stable winter meals for delivery in November so that homebound participants have readily available food in case inclement weather prevents regular delivery.

Staples for Seniors

Volunteers deliver special bags of food and household supplies to homebound participants. These non-perishable items are provided as a bonus to supplement hot, home-delivered meals throughout the year to ensure that there is always something nutritious readily available.

Nutritional Supplements

MMOW’s collaboration with Southlake Teen Court provides Ensure and Boost nutritional supplements to MMOW. Supplements are available to participants at no cost.

Comfort Calls Program

As the pandemic continues, some of our participants have experienced increased loneliness, anxiety and depression. In an attempt to lessen these very real emotions, Metroport Meals On Wheels has a program called Comfort Calls. Volunteers for this program call MMOW participants at least every other week, or as frequently as they wish, to provide company, support, and comfort in this uncertain time.

Pet Patrol

Don’t Forget to Feed Me’s partnership with Metroport Meals On Wheels helps feed dogs and cats that belong to our home-delivery meal participants. Don’t Forget to Feed Me’ donates pet food to MMOW and helps ensure both our seniors’ and their pets’ nutritional needs are being met.

MMOW's home delivered meals program began in 1980; senior center luncheons began in 1981.

Metroport describes the area between DFW Airport and Alliance Airport. MMOW provides services that extend from DFW Airport west to Boyd in Wise County, south of the City of Denton and north of North Loop 820 in Fort Worth.
